My recent stay at a charmingly Parisian-style hotel

Another thing you need to know before staying in the hotel is the occupancy tax paid to Paris charge of 8 euros per person per day, which I've never heard of before, that's what left me rather unimpressed. My recent stay at a charmingly Parisian-style hotel left me with mixed impressions. While the staff was consistently friendly and helpful, exceeding all expectations, a crucial aspect was sadly lacking: accessibility for guests with wheelchairs. The absence of wheelchair-accessible entrances for both the hotel and elevator was a significant drawback. This should be addressed as a priority to ensure equal access for all guests. Room: The room itself exceeded my expectations based on previous reviews I'd read. It was small but nice and clean but this is enough for 2 people. The mattress offered excellent comfort. However, the pillows lacked supportive firmness and could be improved for optimal sleep quality. The inclusion of L'Occitane toiletries was a welcomed touch. While noise from neighboring rooms wasn't excessive, earplugs might be helpful for light sleepers. The morning cleaning staff worked diligently, but the sound of the vacuum cleaner could be disruptive. The view from my room was not remarkable, facing another building, but this likely wouldn't be a major concern for most guests given the limited time typically spent in the room. Bathroom: The bathroom was well-maintained and clean, but lacked an exhaust fan, which could be inconvenient for some guests. Additionally, a shower curtain or glass divider would prevent water spillage and improve functionality. Surroundings: During my stay, there was construction work occurring next door, resulting in early morning noise. The hotel itself is located in a small alleyway off the main road, which wasn't a problem for me but might be unexpected for some. There were homeless individuals residing near the entrance, but they posed no threat to guests. The location itself proved very convenient, with the subway station directly in front of the hotel and numerous restaurants and bars within walking distance. Overall: Despite the accessibility limitations and minor issues in the room and bathroom, I found the hotel's overall charm, friendly staff, and convenient location to be very positive aspects. If a five-star experience isn't your main priority, this hotel could be a suitable alternative, especially for those who value a unique and well-connected location.

Highly recommend this lovely hotel. We stayed in November 2023 and had a great long weekend. After researching lots of areas of Paris and hotels, I’m so glad we found Prelude Opera! The hotel itself is beautiful, the rooms were very clean and nicely decorated - small but the usual size I would expect for Paris, the staff are helpful and friendly,, the breakfast selection was great, but best of all is the location. Situated off a busy main road, there is everything you need in your doorstop in terms of amenities with bars, restaurants, shops and a supermarket. But the road the hotel is actually on is very quiet despite this, so no worries of noise in the night! Bouillon Chartier is on your doorstep, which is a tourist favourite and very very cheap, but there are also a few independent restaurants in a mall a few minutes away which are superb! Bar Les Varieties - a great bistro for lunch with the BEST French onion soup! And Astair for a more upmarket and delicious dinner. The metro station is also minutes away, but for those who like to walk, you can do lots of sight seeing on foot. We easily walked to the Eiffel Tower via the Louvre and Arc de Triomphe. We would definitely return and have recommended to friends!

The hotel is in a great location close to many great restaurants and neighbourhoods. The rooms were remarkably big for Paris where we could spread out 4 big suit cases on the floor with ease. The price as well was amazing for what we got and the staff were all very pleasant. Extra bonus for the Nespresso machine and two capsules given every day. The reason I didn’t give it a five is because of the shower as both showers in the two rooms we had had the same problem - everytime you showered the water spilled out on the floor outside the cubicle because the screen didn’t go far enough and drenching the mat and beyond with water. You could see that this was an ongoing challenge as the surrounding walls in the bathroom showed signs of water damage building up despite the rooms all being relatively new and recently renovated. The walls also felt relatively thin and you could hear neighbours to your room - I am a very light sleeper and travel with ear plugs so this wasn’t too challenging but my mother did remark the noise on a couple of the nights.

Good bed - extremely important! Small room but that’s Paris! On a quiet street so no noise from garbage trucks in the middle of the night! And very good breakfast. The only negative was paint peeling in bathroom( no fan to extract moisture)

THE BEST SIDE OF THIS HOTEL IS THE SERVICE. THE PEOPLE WERE REALLY KIND AND SUPPORTIVE. The room was a single room and it was quite small (in Paris is always like this). The hotel is in a private and narrow street (dirty and creepy) and many of the taxis do not arrive till the door. The breakfast was nice, but it could be organised better. I couldn't find the brown sugar... The BEDCLOTHES was poor and the pillow not so confortable.
